Pillsbury Partners With
National Christian Counselors Association

Pillsbury College & Seminary has entered into a partnership with the National
Christian Counselor's Association (NCCA) to utilize its extensive curriculum
to offer three new graduate degree tracks:
Christian Master of Arts (C.M.A.)
in Counseling Psychology (45 credit hours),
Christian Doctor of Philosophy (C.Ph.D.)
(60 credit hours), and
Christian Doctor of Psychology (C.Psy.D.) (48 credit
hours).
Successful completion of these degree tracks, plus some additional
requirements (advanced specialized training, clinical supervision, internship,
practicum, and thesis), qualify the graduate as a
Licensed Clinical Pastoral
Counselor or Licensed Clinical Christian Counselor, with Board Certification
in his or her chosen specialty areas, certified by the NCCA. More than 1,700
persons in the United States have been certified by NCCA as licensed Christian
counselors, making it the largest such credentialing agency in the nation.
(Over 4,000 counselors have been licensed world-wide by NCCA.)
The counseling model used by NCCA, "Creation Therapy," focuses on enabling
persons to better understand themselves and their responsibility to establish
a spiritual relationship with God. The Scriptural concepts are based on
Gen.1:1, "In the beginning God created..." and Psa.139:13-14, "For
You created my inmost being."
"Creation Therapy" and its personal temperament questionnaire were developed
by Richard G. Arno, Ph.D., out of his research with more than 5,000 counseling
clients over a period of seven years. Dr. Arno is the founder of NCCA
and president of the Sarasota Academy of Christian Counseling in Sarasota,
Florida. (Both of these institutions are accredited by Accrediting Commission
International for Schools, Colleges and Theological Seminaries (ACI) which
also has accredited the Pillsbury College & Seminary.)
"Creation Therapy' ("If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation: old things
have passed away; behold, all things have become new." II Cor.5:17) deals with
the inner man, rather than with outer manifestations and problems. Based on
Dr. Arno's research, this therapeutic approach has a success rate of over 90%
when administered by a trained and qualified Christian counselor. The Arno
Profile System (APS), used in conjunction with the Word of God, has proven
highly successful in healing emotional problems.
"Creation Therapy" is a viable tool which allows counselors to emphasize the
importance of yielding to God's will and of discovering His purposed destiny
for each individual's existence. It teaches counselees how to draw near to
God, how to listen and recognize God's voice, how to submit to God's will, and
how to allow the Holy Spirit to become one's constant companion, encourager,
and guide.
